We were able to get 2 weeks of leave before having to head off to Germany, and this visit was probably one of the best we've ever had. When we first got there we were surprised to see that there were so many wild fires. Most of the area between Boise and Rupert was burnt. And within 2 days of being home a new fire started (due to a lightning strike) maybe 20 miles from Ricky's Mom's place. Don't worry they were able to keep it from coming towards any of the houses. But it was great to be back "home" with all our family. The first couple of days were spent relaxing and saying hi to most of the people we still keep up with back home. We also got Ricky a new drivers license because he didn't want his Texas one anymore. That took more effort then it should have but it did get taken care of.
We also took the time to drive up to the top of Mt Harrison. On the way up we could see the fire itself and the planes working hard to try and put it out. It was pretty awesome to be able to visit Mt. Harrison. I'd never been up to the top so we went up there. I learned that there is a certain variety of Indian paint brush that only grows there, that a plane crashed into the mountainside in the 40's and if you look down you can still see a wheel from the plane still there. Here's a few photos we took.
Tammi's Camaro up on the mountain.
Some Indian paint brush.
The fire near Albion.
It was a great mini trip with in a trip.
