Ski Trip to France

Now by "Ski Trip" I really mean "Snowboarding Trip", but that is a mouthful so I'm sticking with "Ski Trip". Anyways... Ricky and I were able to go to France to go snowboarding for about 2 hours at an indoor ski slope there. We went with outdoor rec. so transportation and lift tickets were included. Board  rental was also included but there was some complications... so we just went to the other outdoor rec. (that's right there's 2 of them here) and rented boards for the entire season. It was a lot of fun. I have gone boarding since high school, and Ricky's only been once before. So the nice gentle slope was a good refresher for me, and a good place to learn for Ricky. He really improved and by the end was even starting to make full turns.
I have to say that my favorite part was showing my skills off. Ricky had never seen me board and so seeing all my mad boarding skills really impressed him.

The smaller of the two hills, and if you look very closely that little dark speck at the top is Ricky working his way down.
We both loved this trip and couldn't wait to go boarding again soon!

New Years

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Years. Ours was good. We had friends bring us dinner. Then we hung out, played games, and enjoyed the fireworks.
They do things differently here. It felt like our entire village had fireworks and at midnight everyone started setting them off. The most amazing thing I've ever seen. Fire works going off in every direction. Definitely one of the coolest show's I've ever seen!
This video only shows about 1/100 of the coolness that  New Years was but it's the best I can do to share the awesomeness.

Happy Birthday To ME

I had a wonderful birthday this year. Last year was probably one of the worst ever. And because of that Rick did everything in his power to make sure this year was different. And I have to say that my husband is absolutely the most wonderful man ever!!!
He chose to work the Christmas week so that he would have my birthday off. He made me breakfast in bed. He made sure I didn't cook 1 meal all day. He went out of his way to tell people it was my birthday so that they would wish me a Happy Birthday. He even invited some people to hang out with us for dinner and cake so that I had like my 2nd birthday party that I can ever remember. (oh the sorrows of having a December birthday) He did an amazing job of making me feel special. And he wasn't the only one. I got a few calls from family as wells as a few presents from them as well.
The ice cream cake Ricky got for me and decorated.

The lovebird friends who came to enjoy my b-day with me and Ricky.
Thank you everyone who made my birthday such an amazing one!

Christmas Celebrations

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Ours was... eventful (for lack of a better word). It started out great! We planned a nice meal and invited some friends and our neighbor over. But as with everything in the world issues kept popping up. For instance I couldn't find a smaller turkey so I got a 24 lb one which caused some trouble with cooking it, like having to double the marinade recipe, or not cooking it for long enough. But for the first time cooking a turkey in Germany in these funny ovens it wasn't so bad.
Ricky prepping the turkey. He hates touching raw meat, but insists on doing the turkey. I don't mind one bit. :)
Let the baking begin.
I didn't get any pictures of everyone or how everything turned out because I was distracted with making sure everyone was having a good time, and serving the food. Well, after just finishing eating dinner Ricky got a call from work saying that he was supposed to be there. He was told he was on call. So, yeah... After getting yelled at on the phone, he changed into his uniform and rushed into work. I did an ok job of entertaining but I'm not really much of a hostess by myself. Anyways, all in all it was an enjoyable evening and the guest seemed to enjoy themselves. And luckily Ricky didn't have to work a full shift.
As for Christmas we went small this year and got ourselves a cheap electric drill set. We had our chocolate chip pancakes, opened presents (the few that we got from family), and just hung out for the rest of the day. It wasn't fancy or even remotely a big event but I wouldn't change a thing about it.
