Two Week Vacation Part 2

While on leave Ricky and I were able to make it to my family reunion. We went my Uncle's house in Oregon. Everyone but my little brother (who's on a mission in Africa) were all able to make it. Ricky and I rode up with my Mom and Allen because we didn't have a car. We were able to stop along the Oregon Trail. It was neat to see how it was kind of like in everyday life along the trail.
At my uncle's house we were able to enjoy cooler weather. It was around 70 degrees the entire time we were there so very comfortable compared to the 109 degree weather we had the last week in Texas. He also had a home made water slide which was both terrifying and totally awesome! I only went down a few times because every time I would almost slide off the end of the slide. We didn't take any photos of us on it but we got a few good ones of the nieces and nephews.
They were getting crazy going down on their bellies.
The kids had so much fun on this thing, as well as the adults. It was pretty Awesome! I do have to give props to my 3 year old niece who would go down from the top of the slide by her self. I wish we had gotten a photo of her doing it but we were to busy enjoying everything our selves.
The second day there Ricky, Me, two of my brothers and my Uncle climbed his mountain.
Us taking one of the many breaks I needed on the way up while my Uncle told us stories.
We made it to the top! Taking a breather before heading back down.
Other stuff we did while up there was horse back riding for all. My uncle has a shetlen pony that the little kids got to ride around on, and a few bigger ones for the older kids.
Some really liked it.
Some were scared at first but eventually got into it.
Some loved it right from the start.
They all wanted to ride the pony all the time.
 Ride 'em cow boy.
The older kids getting a ride before the adults take one later.
Over all it was a great weekend! I am so happy we were able to make it to hang out with my family for the 3 days we were there! And Ricky loved it too!
See he's having so much fun!
I hope we get it do it again very soon!

Two week Vacation Part 1

We were able to get 2 weeks of leave before having to head off to Germany, and this visit was probably one of the best we've ever had. When we first got there we were surprised to see that there were so many wild fires. Most of the area between Boise and Rupert was burnt. And within 2 days of being home a new fire started (due to a lightning strike) maybe 20 miles from Ricky's Mom's place. Don't worry they were able to keep it from coming towards any of the houses. But it was great to be back "home" with all our family. The first couple of days were spent relaxing and saying hi to most of the people we still keep up with back home. We also got Ricky a new drivers license because he didn't want his Texas one anymore. That took more effort then it should have but it did get taken care of.
We also took the time to drive up to the top of Mt Harrison. On the way up we could see the fire itself and the planes working hard to try and put it out. It was pretty awesome to be able to visit Mt. Harrison. I'd never been up to the top so we went up there. I learned that there is a certain variety of Indian paint brush that only grows there, that a plane crashed into the mountainside in the 40's and if you look down you can still see a wheel from the plane still there. Here's a few photos we took.
Tammi's Camaro up on the mountain.
 Some Indian paint brush.
 The fire near Albion.
It was a great mini trip with in a trip.

Packing Up The House

About 3 weeks ago we finally had the movers come and pack up the house. It was a pretty stressful week because the movers came the 1st and 2nd and on the 3rd we had to pass a housing inspection so that Ricky could do his final out so that we could making to Dallas in time to get his car in to the shipping place so that we could make our flight on the 4th. So to alleviate some of the stress we hired a cleaning lady and that made all of the difference. We passed with flying colors.
It was weird seeing our completely furnished house go back to this.
As they were packing up everything it no longer felt like home and it was a weird feeling to feel homeless. But it wont last forever soon enough we'll have a home again.

Playing Catchup Again

So, it's been quite a while since my last post and a lot of things have happened since then. I am going to take my time trying to get this all updated so that I have stuff to do during the days while Ricky is gone to work and I don't have anything to do (which happens more often then not right now). But first to get caught up to the big news.
I completely missed posting in July. Not much really happened for the beginning part of it. Well, that's not true. We went to New Mexico to Visit Ricky's brother for the 4th and nearly blew up the neighbor hood with fireworks. We got one of those huge boxes of fireworks and a few of them didn't go up into the air like they were supposed to. Instead they decided to aim at the neighbor's house, car, and kids. One of the big mortars popped the bottom of the tube out and didn't get more then a foot off the ground and when it went off it hit everything. Luckily it was rainy so no fires were started and no one was hurt.
Then the next day Ricky and his bro flew off to Nevada to help their dad out of a bad situation. It was pretty expensive but needed to be done. I'm not gonna lie I'm still struggling with this situation because I can still feel the financial effects from it but I know that we did the right thing and because we are being faithful and paying our tithing we are being blessed in so many ways both in financial and spiritual ways.
I am sorry no pictures for this post but we didn't remember to take any photos on the 4th. But don't worry not all of my catch up will be this way.
