What's been happening around here...

So life has been extraordinarily crazy!
I'm going to start with my poor car.
First it started with a trip to Walmart one evening. My car decided that it wasn't going to start for some reason. Eventually it did so we were able to get home, and we thought that it was all fine and dandy until one morning a few days later my car wouldn't start again. We were pretty sure my car had completely died, but after calling the dealership, and doing some trouble shooting we found out that it was just a dead battery.
I was happy it only cost around $50.00 instead of $200.00 to fix what was wrong or worst case having to buy a whole new car.
The other thing that has happened was that  my car got backed into. As you can see it's not that bad, at least to me. Ricky on the other hand completely freaked out and got mad at me even though it wasn't my fault. So eventually we are going to get this fixed, eventually.
In other news, we (me, Ricky, a bunch of our friends and their children) went to the county fair here in Abilene. It wasn't that great but I haven't been to a fair in so long that I can't really remember what I really enjoyed about it.
We went on Military appreciation day so we didn't have to pay to get it. So it was worth it to hang out with some friends. Of course we did find out that the rodeo was the next day. Ricky was kind of bummed about that.
Also Ricky has been upgrading his 22. It looks a lot cooler to me now and it shoots more accurately now with the red dot sight. Ricky's really proud of it.
Also Ricky is getting all of his stuff ready for his deployment, which is coming up a whole lot faster then I want it to.
But with any luck it will go just as fast.

Busy weekend

So this weekend has been crazy. It started with me getting a real piano!
It's a little old and worn but it still plays really well and it doesn't look to bad. I've really been enjoying having this over my keyboard.
We also got a raft for when we go fishing.
Ricky was so excited that he couldn't wait to blow it up.
Then he didn't want to get out of it.
Eventually he did and we went fishing, to try out the raft.
Ricky loves going fishing, even though we are both absolutely lousy at fishing here in Texas. He says he's good at stream fishing. Me, well I'm just lazy.
The raft had these things that held the poles for you, so I would cast my line, put it in the thing, and enjoy the weather and the company. But I'm ok with being a horrible fisherman, because if I ever catch a fish I would probably have to clean it, or at the very least touch it. I'm not sure I really want to do that just yet.
Anyways that was our Friday. Not even the entire weekend. Saturday we had a group lunch that I almost missed, because I had to work most of the afternoon. I did make it and had a lot of fun hanging out with our friends and their kids here.
Sunday we went to a birthday party for one of friend's kid's 1st birthday. That was a lot of fun too. We played games and ate desserts and had a blast.
And finally today we went to the lake and played on a raft and had a picnic and really just enjoyed the day in the sun and the water. I didn't have my camera for anything other then Friday, otherwise I would have more pictures. I'm still working on actually taking pictures for all these group events that we go and do. Hopefully I'll get better at it.

FHE

So last night for FHE (Family Home Evening) Ricky and I decided that we should go and spend what little money we had and fix up our flower garden. It wasn't looking to great and we were always getting tickets for it. The main reason we did it, at least in my mind, is because Ricky had to go in and see his first shirt about all the tickets we've gotten. And that is not a good thing. Luckily Ricky is amazing and his first shirt really likes him, so we got off with a warning. But in order to not get anymore tickets we tore out all the old wood chips and mat that was laid down and put down plastic, and started putting down gravel. It looks a lot better and should keep the weeds from growing. We also sprayed weed killer all over the beds too, just to make sure nothing gets through.
Unfortunately we ran out of daylight and gravel, so we weren't able to finish it.
This is by the front door.

Also my camera batteries died before I could get any real good pictures last night, so this is what you get.

If your wondering why I didn't just take some good ones this morning, the reason is that it's windy and everything that didn't have the gravel on it (over half of what we did) has been blown around and out of place and I can't fix it because I don't have enough gravel to keep it all down. But this weekend when I get paid again this baby is going to be finished!

Projects completed

So this last... well month really I have been working on a project. It stated out being a Family Home Evening sign but turned into a welcome sign because the board I had wasn't big enough. The main reason it's taken so long to get done was because Ricky and I don't have a power drill and I needed to drill a few holes. I was finally able to borrow one from self-help here on base, and finish it. So here it is!
What do you think?

Oh in other news Ricky just recently put an air flow intake on his truck. He was so excited and I'm not going to lie the truck actually sounds really good now, plus he's getting better gas mileage. Always a good thing. Here are a few before and after pictures of that.
This is the old intake system.

This is after Ricky took everything out.

This is the new system.

Ricky did it all himself too. I'm proud of my husbands skill, cause I highly doubt that I could have done this by myself.

New Calling

You are now looking at a slightly enhanced picture of the new 2nd counselor of the Young Women's Presidency in the Abilene 1st Ward! I was just called today and I am super excited and very nervous about it. I wont actually start till next week so I have all week to worry about what they're gonna think of me and if they'll like me or not.
 Wish me luck!

Books

So this last week while Ricky was gone to nationals again, I found myself rereading the Twilight series and remembering that I love books! I haven't been reading lately because when I get into a book, I tend to stay there and forget about everything and everyone else. It's not good when I'm lost in a book and people are around, or when Ricky wants to go do something. But since I was alone for a week I was able to read as long as I wanted (except for when I had to work), and I decided that I was definitely going to need some books for when Ricky deploys.
So I bought The Chronicles of Narnia. I got a pretty good deal for them too, all seven for around $25, slightly used but still in great condition. I'm pretty excited to start reading them especially with the third movie coming this December.

It's been a while...

So it's been quite a while since my last blog, and even though I'd like to blame that on the fact that life has been super crazy, which it has been, but I'm not going to. I'm just going to catch everyone up on what has been going on with the Farnsworths lately.

Firstly (is that a word?) I finished my letters. I actually finished them while Ricky was gone to nationals for Honor Guard. And if your wondering yes some of the picture frames do not have pictures in them yet. I wanted to take some newer family photos of me and Ricky to put up there, but finding time and funds to do that is proving to be a challenge.

Secondly we had an awesome fourth of July, and by awesome I mean sub par. We had plans to go to Six Flags for a friends birthday, but it was stormy all week thanks to Hurricane Alex. We didn't get anything more then rain and thunderstorms, but if there is lightning within so many miles they shut down all the rides. So going would have been a waste of a trip. So we went to Eclipse instead! None of the husbands were excited at all. But all us girls pretty much loved it, even though we all love the books better.

That night they had fireworks in Tye, which is about 15 minutes from where we live, so we went. Unfortunately we didn't know that they wouldn't start until almost 10:30 p.m., so we showed up at 7:30ish and had to wait three hours! Not a lot of fun especially with the rain that kept coming and going, but they did eventually start and it was a really good show.

I'm sorry for the not great quality of the pictures, I took these with my phone.

Anyways, that was our fourth. Life just got busy after that. About a week ago, Ricky got a call saying that he was going to be deployed early and for longer. Early meant August instead of October and longer meant a 6 month deployment instead of 4 month. But when he started talking to people in charge things changed again. Apparently the people who were trying to send him hadn't talked to the First Sergeant, which is a big deal cause he's the one in charge of everybody in his squadron. So plans changed back and he will be going in October again.

This last Saturday Ricky and I went to the temple, and when we got back our dog wasn't doing too good. She could barely walk, and was hyperventilating and foaming at the mouth, and her eyes were all over the place, not really focusing on anything. So we hose her down thinking she might be dehydrated but then we notice she's favoring one of her back legs. So we take her to an emergency vet clinic and the take a look at her, take some x-rays and tell us that there's really nothing to wrong with her just some soft tissue damage like a bad bruise, but they did want to give her an iv and keep her overnight just to be sure. Sunday she was doing so much better and came home that afternoon.

You can kind of see where they gave it to her.
But yeah, the only thing I'm not very happy about is that we spent almost $400 to find out that she was just fine. It's kind of frustrating, but most things like this are.
Oh and one more thing, Ricky is back at nationals this week. It should be the last nationals that he has to go to. So hurray for that!!!
